Koyalee Chanda is a five-time Emmy-nominated television and film director based in Brooklyn, New York. She started directing television at the age of 23, landing her first professional gig on Nickelodeon’s hit series Blue's Clues, where she went on to direct over 30 episodes for the series, including the primetime specials, "Steve Goes to College" and the highly acclaimed Blue's Clues 10th Anniversary Special: Meet Blue’s Baby Brother.
More recently, Koyalee directed all 52 segments for Sesame Street called "What's
the Word on the Street?" and serves as the sole voice director for the Emmy Award-winning
animated series The Backyardigans on Nick Jr. Other television credits
include The Electric Company (Sesame Workshop), Blue's Room (Nick
Jr), Lily in the City (Nick Jr.), The Goodnight Show (PBS
Sprout), The Sunny Side Up Show (PBS Sprout), Come On Over! (ABC
Affiliates), and several promos and commercials for Nickelodeon, PBS Kids, and
The New York Knicks.
She also performs the voice of the Blue's Clues character Magenta.
Her short film Hic! (2003), was commissioned by Nickelodeon and has
appeared in festivals around the world, including the prestigious Prix Jeunesse
festival in Munich, Tribeca Film Festival, Brooklyn Academy of Music's BAMKids
(awarded Best Live Action Short), Chicago International Children's, Toronto Sprockets,
San Francisco International, and New York International Television Festival.
Koyalee received her Bachelor’s degree with Honors from Wesleyan University and a Certificate in Film Directing from New York University. |
